ST IVES A CORNISH PARADISE
A picturesque town ringed by glorious beaches and a beautiful harbour. An amazing variety of shops amongst narrow cobbled streets will appeal to some, while others will enjoy its close proximity to coast paths and the wild Cornish country-side. Porthmeor, its largest beach, is a prime surfing venue and has won awards for cleanliness. Overlooking the beach is the Tate Gallery, one of scores of galleries around town, a testament to its renowned artistic community.
Making Waves is a minutes walk from the Barbara Hepworth sculpture gardens, and only five minutes from the Tate and Porthmeor beach. Other local attractions include ancient Pagan monuments, St.Michaels Mount, Lands End, Seal Sanctuary, or further afield, the Lost Gardens of Heligan. Activities you can busy yourself with are surfing, diving, kite flying (hire and lessons available), or get out and about on a mountain bike.
The evenings can be filled visiting restaurants, pubs or night-clubs if you are so inclined. We also have a vibrant live music scene. St.Ives has many quality restaurants and cafes that provide vegan / vegetarian food if you would prefer.
Please ask us for our recommendations and favourite dishes.
All corners of town are within easy (but often hilly!) walking distance of Making Waves.
DIRECTIONS BY CAR
Follow A30 through Cornwall to St.Erth, then follow signs to St.Ives. When descending into St.Ives from Carbis Bay, turn right at Porthminster Hotel downhill towards the harbour and town centre.
Pass the Co-op supermarket, turn left at Barclays Bank, then follow hill up and right turn (very steep!) up Windsor Hill. Carrack Dhu is on your right at the top of the railings. Please call us on arrival.
Driver Warning! The local roads get extremely narrow in town, there is parking in front of the flat, or just behind it at Barnoon car park. We would recommend using the nearby rail, bus and coach services for your convenience.
